Studio: Dotted and Doted

I started Monday out with an intense mind-boggling step into intellectualism and craft. The buzz that started then murmured through out what ended being up a week of socializing and philosophizing. A lot of very valid questions popped in life and so made their way into my studio this week.
How can I justify being a maker in a world of objects?
Why do we do what we do?
How does craft fit into society today?
What function do I want it to serve?
Who cares?
How is craft generally contextualized by the average Joe?
Does material matter?
What is valued? Why? To Whom?
How do I define/give value in/to an object, artifact or idea?
Lines and dots seem to persist. Rhythm. Time. Moments. Dots. My brain has shut off due to overload. It is rebooting this evening in the studio by the simple rep or making dots. A matrix of dots. The studio can be a place of refuge and peace. One of the reasons I am a potter is because in making the same thing over and over (which is impossible by the way) you focus on subtle and quiet minuet qualities. Funny how physical process can reject cerebral processes so well. dot dot dot.

In the studio: Updates on studio work pictures and anecdotes posted up all about the secret life of potters, this one in particular.
