Kootenay Co-op Radio is dear to my heart. The very fist picture (that we made T-shirts out of to go to the Sasquatch music festival) seen up top is me and my old co-host of the Indie rock show called Mangoland from 2008! I started the show with a co-worker who was involved with the station who got me going (thanks Sandi!) and here is the kicker I had to leave the show on ’09 and none the less it still airs on Wednesday nights at 10pm (as always) and still broadcasts awesome tunes. It is on its fifth generation of hosts and Ira and Tess are great to listen to (so tune in tonight, or get past shows from the website)! KCR is full of amazing shows- music, news and spoken word. There nothing like listening to people in the community voice their feelings and opinions in such a free and public environment. The Kootenay Co-op radio is having its annual meeting this Wednesday October 20 at 6:30– on my blog’s playlist day, how convenient. If you are in the area please attend. If you live else where I urge you to check out some co-op stations in your city. They have great things to offer. I even was able to do two seasons of a show about craft in Canada called It Ain’t Easy, I only wish I had more time to dedicate to it at the then. Still, that is the joy of local co-op stations they teach you what is what even if you have never had anything to do with radio!
